Well! Would you look at that calendar! Time flies by, and there never seems to be enough moments in the day to accomplish what needs to be done.
In a sudden fit of purpose, I have finally emptied the closet of Kim’s clothing and donated it all to Purple Heart. The carpets have been torn out of the living and dining rooms, and the rooms are being prepped for new paint and flooring after over 30 years of neglect – the first of many to be done. The pool and useless shed have been removed from the backyard, and work on the landscaping is crawling along when I’d rather be outdoors than in. A new roof has been installed… The goal of readying the house to be sold is slowly getting closer.
There is still so much to be done.
My mother celebrated her 90th birthday a little while ago. Dad has been gone for almost 16 years now. Time marches forward unencumbered by anything you or I have experienced or want… But that progression is a good thing if you look at it in the right way. It teaches us that “this, too, shall pass” is always applicable. Case in point: my Dad has been gone 16 years. He’s been gone 16 years and my Mom just turned 90. She goes on. Does she miss him? Hell yes. But her pain over his loss has diminished. She continues on and finds happiness along the way. As do we. As will you.
